First cohort completes new training course

The first group of staff to take part in St Christopher’s new introductory training programme have come to the end of the course and shared really positive feedback about their experiences.

The Registered Practitioner Training course takes place over eight days for new members of staff working in St Christopher’s children’s homes, semi-independent homes, fostering teams and support services. It was designed to incorporate more elements of social pedagogy, which is the holistic approach to care that informs all of St Christopher’s work.

One of the course graduates said: “Fantastic course and knowledge enhancement. I have gained confidence to improve my working with young people. [The trainers] both know the course material very well and presented it well. I enjoyed the methods used – activities, games, theories, etc. – and the group has been amazing.”

Another member of staff said: “I valued the versatility and style that was used by the trainers when teaching and growing through the materials. It was extremely informative and interactive as well as reflective. Best training I have experienced in a workplace.”
