St Christopher’s Fellowship recognised for high profile accreditation

The charity ably demonstrates how they put the wants and needs of the young people they support front and centre to deliver positive outcomes.

We are delighted to highlight that for the 13th consecutive year we have been recognised with a Customer Service Excellence Award, with results showing that we go above and beyond for those in our care across the UK and Isle of Man.

The assessment criteria considers our focus on children and young people, our foster carers, staff and commissioners. This year we have been credited with exemplary work in the following 3 key areas, and as a result maintained our compliance plus status.

  • Ensuring the voice of the child is at the heart of all we do
  • Better outcomes for the children and young people in our care
  • An improved range of and quality of verbal, published and web-based information we provide

The report highlights the difference teams across St Christopher’s make in young people’s lives including supporting them to thrive in education, ensuring day to day stability and how we work to secure that young people have planned moves when ready.

Key highlights include that:

  • Our educational achievements are substantially higher – 53% of our young people achieved at least 5 GCSEs graded A*- C, compared with 13% for looked after children nationally and 58% for all children nationally.
  • Young people stay with us longer across both our residential and fostering settings
  • Our planned placement moves are 86%, compared to the national average of 56%

Phil Townsend– Director of Operations (UK) adds..

“It was great that the assessor’s report recognised that”…

Managers and front-line staff are constantly seeking feedback from the children and young people to address needs and preferences.

…”As this affirms our belief that the young people we care for are experts in themselves, which in turn informs our practice and service delivery for them.”
