Our Team and Trustees

Jonathan has led St Christopher’s Fellowship for over five years. Beginning his career within residential care, he has worked at every level within the sector, with a particular emphasis on looked after children and care leavers. Jonathan is a qualified social worker and a former senior strategic leader for both Luton Borough Council and a national children's charity. Since becoming Chief Executive for St Christopher’s in 2018 Jonathan has continued to build upon his extensive track record as a change manager and effective strategic leader to enable brighter futures for children and young people.

Phil started his career at St Christopher's in 2001. Since then he has done a range of different roles and is currently responsible for all operational services in the UK, as well as development and placements. He believes that St Christopher's does fantastic work with children and young people and really does create brighter futures. Phil is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Housing and possesses extensive Children's Home and Supported Accommodation Leadership experience.

Anne’s over 40 years career in social care has encompassed local authority social work, residential care, homelessness provision, special educational needs housing and accommodation and support for care leavers. She possesses an established practice base and qualified as a social worker in 1979. Anne holds a diploma in management from the Chartered Management Institute and has led on developing new services in response to changing needs in close partnership with the Isle of Man Government, including development and improvement of the secure estate.

Before joining St Christopher's in 2016 Doris worked in the public and private sector in various HR and Line Management roles. Her leadership style is collaborative and she is committed to creating a working environment built on trust, whilst uniting people to achieve the best for the children and young people we care for.

Chi is a fellow of the ACCA, a member of ICAN, and a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE). Chi started his working life in practice and became an audit manager specialising in charities where he managed a portfolio which included social development charities, housing co-operatives and grant-making organisations. Since leaving practice, Chi has spent over 15 years working in senior finance roles within various charities. With that time, he also ran a consultancy service providing accounts support, finance function management and business systems structuring. Chi has organised several courses in charity accounting and financial management and presented at several professional accounting seminars. Chi has engaged the charity sector in other ways. He was a trustee in 2 charities and a member of the board for a school. For the future, Chi is planning to enrol to start a PhD in charity accounting, which he hopes will bring new insights into the charity finance space.

Anne (MBE, MA, MSc, FHEA), is a recently retired lawyer and academic who specialised in company law and governance for over 25 years, and since has had a portfolio of activities. Throughout her career she used her legal and non-executive experience in the community, voluntary and third sector to make a social contribution as a Chair and board member on organisations that have reflected her long-standing commitment to public service, together with a passion for helping advance the lives of young people. She served as Chair of UK Youth until recently and also as a non executive Director and Chair of the People and Organisational Committee of the Isle of Wight NHS Trust.

Juliane is a senior civil servant at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities. She has held policy and strategy roles in the Department for Education, the Cabinet Office, and Treasury. She also managed services for children and young people in two London boroughs and most recently in the Youth Custody Service. She is passionate about improving the life chances for children and was a school governor at an inner London primary school for many years.

Angela (PGCert), provides independent strategic support and advice to public and voluntary sector clients across both children's and adults' services. She has previously held Assistant Director roles in several local authorities, with responsibility for commissioning, performance management and service improvement. Her voluntary experience includes direct work with young people through the Prince's Trust and in schools, overseas project work and grant making. She was elected as Vice-Chair in 2018.

Akua Doreen (BSc, MA), has more than 20 years experience in human resources, working within healthcare, telecommunications, IT and investment businesses across Europe, Africa and Asia. A fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, she now provides independent strategic and operational advice and support to investment and private equity firms, with specialism in business transformation, leadership transition and effectiveness, diversity and inclusion, and HR operational effectiveness.

Joe (BA, MBA), is a graduate of both John Moores University and Kingston University, and is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. He has worked in the financial services industry for more than 25 years at JP Morgan, UBS and HSBC. Joe is a keen Liverpool FC supporter and is married with two daughters.

Kelly (BA, MA, NPQH, PGCE, PGCer), lived at St Christopher's when she was a teenager. She has since graduated from the Central School of Speech and Drama and has devoted her professional career to teaching in comprehensive secondary schools in London. She has held a range of senior leadership roles in schools and is currently Head Teacher at The Richmond upon Thames School.

Rupert studied computer science at the University of the West of England and is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales. Rupert has worked for PwC for over 15 years providing assurance and advisory services to the financial services sector. Rupert joined St Christopher's initially as a co-opted member of the Audit and Risk Committee in 2018 before becoming a Trustee in 2020.

John (BA, NPQH), is an Executive Head Teacher in London, leading a number of schools within the STEP Academy Trust. He is responsible for leadership development across the trust, developing training packages and coaching to support leaders at all levels. In 2017, John was made a National Leader of Education (NLE), recognising his experience and success in improving schools. Previously John has been the Chair of Governors for a special school and has worked in a number of schools in challenging circumstances.

Vicki works at Change Grow Live with the CEO and six other Executive Directors to lead staff and volunteers to achieve the best possible outcomes for the people who use their services. She uses her facilitation and communication skills to connect with both colleagues and external stakeholders and audiences. Vicki says she feels lucky to be where she is and believes that everyone has the right to access whatever support they need to change their lives for the better.

Monique has extensive experience working across multiple fundraising disciplines, acquired at a variety of leading UK charities. She is a Cambridge graduate and joined the Ruth Strauss Foundation as their Head of Fundraising, having previously led the Public Fundraising function at Barnardos. In her work life, Monique has successfully lead teams to deliver income targets up to £4million and a number of change management projects. She is married with 3 children and enjoys cake decorating in her spare time.

Merryn is Head of Communications at the Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service, an Arm’s-Length Body of the Ministry of Justice. She has over a decade of communications experience, working in media relations, strategy, change management and digital transformation. She has a BA Honours in English and Politics from the University of York and is currently studying part-time for a MSc in Leadership Communication. Merryn has previously mentored for the Prince’s Trust and ran the London Marathon to raise funds for Shelter UK. She passionately believes in social justice and the importance of creating the right environment for children to flourish.

Roger has retired from paid public service, and has an extensive background working for parliaments as a public servant. The former clerk of Tynwald [Isle of Man Parliament], Secretary of the House of Keys and Counsel to Mr Speaker until 2021, he has also previously risen through the ranks at the House of Commons reaching the post of Deputy Principal Clerk, after being called to the bar in 1978. Pleased to continue contributing to the wellbeing of society, he is keen for St Christopher’s work on the island to continue to be an example to others.

Juan is a consultant advising on all aspects Governance and Compliance. A fellow of the Chartered Governance Institute (CGI), he is also the President of the IOM CGI Branch. Juan worked in the Trust and Corporate Provider sector for over 20 years and was appointed CEO of the Isle of Man Law Society before establishing his consultancy company. Juan has a particular interest in wellbeing and established the Law Society and CGI wellbeing committees together with the Chamber of Commerce Positive Health and Wellbeing Forum, which he chairs.

Prior to relocating the Isle of Man, Nigel has lived and worked in numerous countries, including Belarus, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Greece and Switzerland. Nigel studied Biology & Chemistry at Goldsmiths’ College, University of London and qualified as a Chartered Accountant, whilst working for PWC. Nigel worked for Coca- Cola Hellenic plc for over 25 years, firstly in the role of Finance Director and subsequently as General Manager of several country business units, whilst also running the Group Information Technology function for 28 countries during his time in corporate HQ. He is currently a member of the Isle of Man Electoral Commission which will report to Tynwald in March 2024 and the Chair of Isle of Man Meat Company Ltd. He has is married with two children, both in full time education. He is a keen triathlete, follows rugby, cricket and is a longstanding supporter of Chelsea F.C.

Lukasz (MSc,FCCA), graduated with a Masters Degree in Political Science, and is a chartered accountant with vast experience in managing a large real estate portfolio businesses. He is currently Group Finance Director of the Albert Gubay Charitable Trust - one of the largest foundations in the UK, and brings expertise in the areas of finance, tax, corporate management, HR and system changes. Lukasz has recently led one the largest migrations of a charity from the Isle of Man to the UK.
