Charity provides personal development opportunities for staff in all roles

The majority of St Christopher’s staff work directly with children and young people, who receive specialist training throughout their career with us. However, just because a member of staff doesn’t work directly with young people doesn’t mean they do not receive the same level of training and support.

Carolyn, who works in our London office, recently completed a course with support from our training fund to enhance her IT skills.

Training for support roles in a charity

“I attended my PowerPoint course in autumn, which was great timing as I had been putting the slides together for the next quarterly management meeting. The course was at a great venue with lovely people.

“The morning session was more focused on how to give a presentation and what should appear on a slide. This bit was not exactly what I wanted to learn as I wanted to focus on how to create a really good presentation, but it was still really helpful and gave me a different point of view.

“In the afternoon I learnt loads and was given a helpful booklet to take away, and the course leader gave us lots of handy hints and tips that I would never have known about. Since then I have practised what I have learnt so I can use PowerPoint more at work and know how to have a bit of fun with it too.

“When I collect slides for meetings they come through in different formats and styles, so it is great that I know what I am doing now!”
